13 Amazing Facts About Frogs

Frogs are amphibian animals, belong to a group called vertebrates which means'' animals that have a spine''. Of the three groups of amphibians, frogs are equal to the largest group of the approximately 6500 species of amphibians that exist is 90% of the frogs. Frogs are cold-blooded animals, which means that the temperature inside their body is approximately the same as the outside temperature.



They were about 150 developed millions of years ago from the fish but have  adapted to life both in the water. The skin does not have scales like fish but is covered with a mucus layer in order to absorb oxygen. The skin can secrete substances that their partner attracts but also toxic substances as protection against the enemy.
  • Frogs live in almost all parts of the world except the polar regions, several islands in the middle of the ocean, and the driest deserts.

  • The female lays from 100 to 20 000 eggs depending on the species in the spring and summer.
  • Most species of frog have great legs and muscular rear which allows them to launch themselves into the air. Some species have long hind limbs and muscular, but they have other short hind for crate climbing, swimming, or even glide.
  • Some frogs can jump so far more than 20 times the length of their bodies.

  • Frogs croak to lure their partner usually, the males croak, before they have a better developed inflatable vocal sac. The female also possesses this, but not as big as the male and less round. And every species have his or her own sound.
  • The eggs of a frog are called "spawn" float at the top of the water and hatch out in the sun. There is a black dot on each of the eggs, which will later develop into a tadpole and some of these eggs cannot be fertilized or die or be eaten by their natural enemies.

  • The term "frog" and "toad" is an informal term and does not reflect any differences in taxonomy. In general, toads used to refer to species that have a rough and warty skin while the frog is a term that refer to species that have smooth skin and moist.
