LG Nexus 5 Review: Back To The Future

Nexus phone releases are timed to let Google have the last word - and what a way to have it! A phone that matches any flagship on specs and premieres the latest OS version, but costs barely half as much as some of them. The Nexus 5 promises a great finale to yet another exciting Smartphone season and it's not only the droids that stand to attention.

This could have been a deja-vu moment for everybody, but the fifth Gen Google phone will probably have to work harder than ever. There's already a bunch of Snapdragon-800-powered Android flagships, while Qualcomm's latest is ticking inside Windows Phone-powered devices by Nokia too and Apple has the new 64-bit A7 chipset.

Features
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
  • Penta-band 3G with HSPA; LTE cat3
  • 4.95" 16M-color 1080p True HD IPS Plus FullHD capacitive touchscreen
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display protection
  • Android OS v4.4 KitKat
  • Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU, 2 GB RAM, Adreno 330
  • GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset
  • 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash, geotagging, optical image stabilization, photo sphere, 1080p video recording @ 30fps with continuous autofocus and stereo sound; HDR mode, Dual recording, optical image stabilization
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera
  • 16GB/32GB of built-in storage
  • MicroUSB port, USB host support, USB on-the-go, SlimPort
  • TV-out
  • Bluetooth v4.0
  • NFC
  • WI-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA
  • GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Voice commands
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor
  • Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
  • 2300mAh Li-Po battery, wireless charging

Main Disadvantages
  • Non-expandable storage
  • Poor audio and video codec support out of the box
  • Non user-replaceable battery
  • Comparatively poor battery life (except for calls)
  • The loudspeaker is on the quiet side
  • Limited availability at launch

Conclusion: Although there's almost no physical resemblance to back it up, the Nexus 5 is based on the LG G2 and that's not a coincidence. The Nexus 4 last year was based on the Optimus G, so history's clearly repeating itself. At least as far as what's under the hood. Go to GSM ARENA for more mobile phone reviews.

Nokia Lumia 1520 Preview

Lagging behind Android in hardware specs for what seemed homogeneous for ages, WP8 managed to catch up in one fell swoop. With the Lumia 1520 at the spearhead, Nokia evened the playing field with a massive 1080p screen and a Snapdragon 800 chipset, then tilted it in its favor with a 20MP OIS-enabled PureView camera..

The Lumia 1520, along with the midrange Lumia 1320, are the first Nokia-made phablets and the first in Windows Phone 8 altogether. The 1320 has last year's hardware though, unlike the Lumia 1520, which is virtually on par with the best Android flagships.

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 at a glance
Must Read: Nokia Lumia 1020 Preview
  • Dimensions: 162.8 x 85.4 x 8.7 mm, 209g
  • Display: 6" ClearBlack IPS display of 1080p resolution,
  • Gorilla Glass 2, 367ppi
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800; quad-core Krait 400 at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM
  • OS: Windows Phone 8 GDR3 with Nokia Black
  • Camera: 20 MP, Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash, PureView technology
  • Video camera: 1080p @ 30fps video capture with the main camera
  • Storage: 32GB built-in, microSD card slot with support of up to 64GB, 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage
  • Connectivity: NFC, A-GPS+GLONASS, WLAN (2.4/5Ghz) a/b/g/n/ac, microUSB 2.0, BT 4.0 LE
  • Battery: 3,400mAh with built-in wireless charging (Qi compatible)
  • Misc: Nokia Camera app, FM Radio, built-in accelerometer, multi-touch input, proximity sensor
Conclusion: It certainly has all the right ingredients. Windows Phone is kenned for simplicity and efficiency - it runs smoothly on much less puissant hardware and doesn't bury you under a mountain of gimmicky features like some Android Smartphones do. The Lumia 1520 does pack latest Windows Phone 8 updates - GDR3 and Nokia Ebony, so there are further ameliorations over. Visit here for more mobile review.

Blackberry Z30 Review

Thought Blackberry is going to give up after relinquishing of BBM on Android and Iphone, don't ken that they are going to keep the competition going with their rivals. The BlackBerry Z30 launches in time of crisis and will be looked upon as the savior, or end up as the one that witnessed the company's undoing. Market share has hit the fan, as RIM of old which stood for innovation and vision, has turned into the mazuma-losing, job-cutting, CEO-swapping, rescue-deal-awaiting BlackBerry that we have now.

Yet, in the middle of all this, another flagship gets unleashed to hopefully avail and turn around the shrinking market share and facilitate the pressure from all sorts of competition. The BB 10 OS was indeed a great comeback, especially from such a conservative company, but the Z10 failed to become the kick-starter many thought - hoped - it would be. It's now the BlackBerry Z30's turn but the company may have already lost the smartphone battle and now running in survival mode

Features
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, penta-band UMTS/HSPA, penta-band LTE
  • 5.0" 16M-color 720p Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
  • Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait, 2GB RAM, Adreno 320
  • 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with face detection and Time Shift; LED flash, 2MP front facing camera
  • Full HD (1080p) video recording at 30fps; 720p recording with front-facing camera
  • 16GB storage, microSD card slot; built-in Dropbox and Box integration
  • Ability to side-load and run Jelly-Bean-compatible apps
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot; Wi-Fi sync
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • NFC
  • Standard microUSB port, USB host, microHDMI
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • GPS receiver with A-GPS and GLONASS
  • BlackBerry 10.2 OS
  • Office document editor
  • BlackBerry Hub with extensive social networking connectivity
  • BBM with video chat and screen sharing
Main Disadvantages
  • Below-par screen resolution, the competition has 1080p displays
  • The UI poses a steep learning curve
  • Thick and heavy, not quite up to the usual high standard of design and finish
  • BlackBerry Maps fall short of the competition
  • Camera offers little control over image quality
  • Audio quality degrades with headphones plugged in (as opposed to an external amp)
Conclusion: BlackBerry 10 is still a toddler compared to iOS and Android, but the others can certainly learn an artifice or two. And you can't inculpate BlackBerry of not endeavoring either. Many popular apps missing at the premiere of the OS are now available in the BlackBerry World. Popular Android and iOS games are making their way to the platform additionally.

LG G Pad 8.3 Review

Android slates are available in almost every screen diagonal under the sun, and LG had plenty of targets to aim for, planning their return to the tablet game. An 8.3-inch display looks like the right choice, considering how the scene has changed in the Koreans' absence, more than two years now since their first Optimus tablet.

Compact tablets have become the popular choice, propelled by the success of the Nexus line, while ten-inchers have been struggling to cope with the iPad pressure. On the other hand, Apple too must've felt compelled to respond to the expansion of compact Android tablets, hence the iPad mini, which has a screen diagonal of 7.9 inches sharp. It must be part of the reason too why LG went for 8.3 inches, which is the largest diagonal that can still fit in one hand according to its test.

Features
  • 8.3" 16M-color WUXGA capacitive touchscreen; works with gloves, KnockOn to wake/sleep
  • Android OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean; LG Optimus UI
Must Read: HTC One Mini Preview
  • Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU, 2 GB RAM, Adreno 320 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset
  • 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash, geotagging, image stabilization, Time catch shot, and VR panoramas
  • 1080p video recording @ 30fps
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera
  • 16GB of built-in storage; microSD card slot microUSB (SlimPort) v2.0
  • Miracast
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct
  • GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Multi-tasking with mini-apps and optional transparency (QSlide)
  • Accelerometer and proximity sensor 4,600mAh Li-Ion battery
  • IR remote control emitter
Main Disadvantages
  • No network data version, Wi-Fi only
Must Read: Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Jugger-Note Preview
  • Snapdragon 600 isn't the fastest chipset on the market anymore
  • No NFC
  • Camera quality is unimpressive
  • QRemote app only supports TV's and set top boxes
  • No Dual Screen Dual Play
Conclusion: LG has put a 5MP primary camera on the G Pad, which may not sound like much, but it is a tablet after all. Unfortunately, there are a few prominent features missing, such as NFC connectivity and voice call support. Those are all pretty minor shortcomings for a tablet, too, so we doubt anyone will lose interest because of them. Read more here

5 Reasons Why Nokia Is Better Than Blackberry

The nokia is a technology corporation company owned by subsidiary Navteq which based in Finland and their principal products are mobiles and portable IT devices. They also offer application which can be downloaded from Ovi store. According to Wikipedia, Nokia was the world's largest vendor of mobile phones from 1998 to 2012. Nokia was first known to Java and Symbian but later in the year of 2011, they started making window phones. Nokia became world's second largest mobile phone maker by 2012 unit sales after samsung, with a global market share of 22.5% in the first quarter of 2012.

The BlackBerry is a mobile handheld device and services designed and marketed by Research In Motion Limited. The first BlackBerry device, which "Blackberry 850", was introduced in 1999 as a two-way pager in Munich, Germany. The name BlackBerry was discovered by the marketing company Lexicon Branding based in California, United States. The name was chosen due to the resemblance of the keyboard's buttons to that of the droplets that compose the blackberry fruit. BlackBerry devices support a large variety of instant messaging features, with the most popular being the proprietary BlackBerry Messenger services.

Differences Between Them

  • Price. Blackberry devices seem to be in high price more than Nokia devices. The recent blackberry device which is "Blackberry Z10" cost $550 on the market while Nokia Lumia 92 which seems to have the same features with Z10 cost $400 on the market. So if I can get Nokia Lumia 920 running window operating system and have the same features with Z10 with that amount, why I would bother myself to waste such money on Blackberry Z10? Though it's a choice matter.
A Must Read: 5 Reasons Why Nokia E7 Sucks
  • Battery. When it comes to battery life,  it's a known fact that Blackberry's batteries are not as long lasting as the Nokia's batteries. Nokia has a long life battery than the Blackberry. Maybe it is because of blackberry messaging that makes the battery not to be lasting longer but Nokia also has a whatsapp too. Lets compare Blackberry Z10 and Nokia Lumia 920 together, Z10 standard battery life is 312hrs while Lumia 920 400hr.  Talk time on Z10 is 10hrs and Lumia is 17hr. So, can you see the difference now? Nokia is far better than the Blackberry in battery life.
  • Gaming. Gaming experience on Nokia can not be compared to Blackberry. I'm not really sure if Blackberry got a good gaming experience because most of their users used complain about that, but if you are looking for a phone with a good battery life and good gaming experience. Nokia is the phone that suite your need, Nokia has some good quality HD GAMES with a good graphic. Though it's not all Nokia devices runs the HD GAMES. Here the lists of Nokia devices that runs the HD GAMES: Nokia E7, N8, E6, X6, Lumia generation and etc.
A Must Read: 6 Differences Between iPhone And Android
  • Application. Android and Ios has a larger number of applications than both of them, but BlackBerry can also sidelined android applications meaning Android applications can work on Blackberry. It was also said that Google might start developing applications for BlackBerry later in the future. So, Blackberry has more applications than Nokia.
  • Inbuilt Radio. Most of Nokia devices have inbuilt radio, including their window 8 devices but Blackberry don't have such thing on their devices. I don't even know the reason why they didn't add an inbuilt radio to their devices because inbuilt radio is easier to use than internet radio. It will consume less battery than internet radio and it doesn't require internet versatility like internet radio.
Conclusion: Both devices are good and awesome, but Nokia has more advantages over Blackberry.

5 Reasons Why Nokia E7 Sucks

It's a common sense that no mobile phone is perfect though Nokia E7 is a nice device with an inbuilt and manual qwerty keyboard, Nokia E7 seems to run the market when it was first introduced. Quite contrary, I have some problems with my Nokia E7, Nokia E7 has a lot of advantages that makes it unique among its competitors, but it also got some disadvantages which I will be discussing in this article.

  • Price. The price of the phone has not dropped down since the time it came out. Although the E7 is Nokia's flagship devices, it is too expensive. What is more, there is no reason to charge that much for last 2year's hardware. The CPU inside the E7 clocks at 680 MHz, and while the software is super-optimized to run things smoothly, I can't justify its price. The same money could easily get you a dual-core CPU-powered these days. It's outrageous to charge much for the device.
  • Software. You must have already read it on the net that Symbian sucks. The phone used to hang up mostly all the times, I even though it was because I haven't upgraded from Anna to Belle, but after upgrading it to belle. The problem got worse than before which force me to change the device and bought another one because I really like the device. The Belle software should be the one to make the phone more beautiful not to make it ugly and Waggy.

A Must Read: 6 Differences Between iPhone And Android
  • Charging Port. Nokia E7 charging port sucks, I've repaired the charging port more than 5 times. I can't see the reasons why Nokia is trying to impress their customers by making something that they can't back up for. The charging port of Nokia E7 has been the major problem for the users of the device.
  • Unremoveable Battery. It's not only Nokia E7 battery that can't be changed, mostly the Smartphones that Nokia is making now came with inbuilt battery. Tell me, how can you have a phone that the battery is giving you the problem and come to your surprise that the battery can't be change. It has to be taken to a Nokia office or a phone technician to change it for you, which will cost you extra money and stress. I hope Nokia will fix this soon.
  • The Flipp. Nokia E7 is a well-built device and there are no complaints on about its front. However you have to drop it for quite a few times when you want to open the keyboard. Something's seriously wrong here. I love how Nokia managed to make a QWERTY keyboard equipped device and very easy to carry around, but some piece of silicone is needed on the opposite side of the phone to make it easier when opening the keyboard.
